  1. I feel as though the point of this video is a bit misleading because the person does not have the knowledge of a healthier vegan diet. I do not feel that if I ate french fries and drank beer that I would wake up the next morning feeling refreshed. What I think should be included in this video is all the possibilities to eating when starting a vegan diet. There are many places that offer vegan options as long as you know what you’re searching for. Being vegan doesn’t immediately mean you become thin, because there are plenty of foods that are vegan and very bad for you, so knowledge on healthy vegan options would be helpful in this video.

  2. I like how the video was humerus and kept me engage the whole time. I was looking for a little bit more information on a healthy vegan diet. The video only included an apple, like it was her super fruit that made Heather feel so much better. The beginning was misleading but I like the message. I feel like it could have been portrayed a little bit better to encourage the change of switching over to a vegan diet.

  3. I think this video actually made me lose respect for veganism. I did not like the way that a vegan was portrayed as more elite than someone on a non-vegan diet. Also, it gave an unrealistic depiction of what it is like to be vegan. One can not simply drink beer and eat fries and bagels and overnight be a healthier person. This is not how it works and this video is a terrible misrepresentation of what it is like to be vegan.

  4. I was disappointed to see that this video could be so misleading. I have a friend who is vegan and she does not judge me for what I decide to eat, or try to make me feel less superior to her. This video makes it seem as though eating bread, and drinking beer can be considered vegan because it does not include meat and dairy products. This representation of Veganism is disappointing and disgraceful to my friend who has been vegan for most of her life. Representing a normal diet by using someone dressed in filthy clothes, and portrayed in a homely manner is a disgrace to all those that are happy eating whatever they choose. Being vegan does not constitute happiness in someone’s life, so why does this video portray it this way?

  5. I really don’t get the point of this video or how it fits in with this website. The video presents itself as a serious look into a day of trying veganism but does not deliver and does not inform the viewer in any way. All it really serves to do is make fun of veganism and the results it can have on someone’s health, while showing a diet that although it is vegan would be very unhealthy.

  6. Okay, we are all different and what works for one person may not work for the next person. I feel that one will find the same kinds of success stories for pretty much any diet and then also find tons of people saying they got terrible contrasting results on a vegan diet. I personally encourage the consumption of both animals and plants, but I have nothing against vegans or vegetarians. Being vegan doesn’t mean you are going to get skinny instantly, like Fox Nelson said, because there are plenty of vegan foods very bad for you, so having the knowledge on healthy vegan options would be helpful in this video.

  7. This video is quite relatable. I’ve only just begun to stop eating meat, and not knowing what to eat was very hard in the first couple of days. But once I found a group of vegetarian meals that were healthy and I could sustain off of them without the desire for meat, I can’t find any reason to go back.

  8. I have been vegetarian for quite awhile and since starting the food unit in class I decided to transition and become vegan. Originally, I thought this video would be a realistic view on veganism however it was very satirical. I am a little confused to what the overall point of the video was. I am assuming that it means it would be ridiculous to see any change for changing your diet in one day. However, being vegan is a gradual process and has good results in the long run.

  9. While this video portrays the positive effects of being vegan such as feeling better when you wake up, I thought it was very satirical. It almost belittles those who aren’t vegan. This video didn’t seem that realistic to me because not everyone who isn’t vegan is a slob, and not all vegans are superior to everyone else.

  10. Although I understand the point of this video is to help others to make a change in their diet that could be life changing, I don’t believe the way the message was given was a very suiting for the cause. I believe that by insulting someone’s current way of life you will not inspire them to make the changes that you are trying convince them to make. I also think the video is a bit dramatic.

  11. I see what the video is trying to convey to the viewer, but I think the video’s message isn’t given justice by how it was depicted. Eating a very unhealthy diet even if it is vegan is still not good for you. French fries, beer and Pretzels aren’t healthy choices for vegan diets and shouldn’t have been perceived as such in the video.

  12. This video was not what I expected. I expected it to be more educational about the true results of becoming a vegan. I have recently become a vegetarian which I never thought I could do and I thought this video could help me transition to vegan but it didn’t help me at all. It also seemed to make non vegans seem worse than they are. Overall this video was an exaggeration and not at all realistic. Due to the rest of it being exaggerated, it leads viewers to think the result is exaggerated and not true but I’ve heard waking up happier is a real result of a vegan diet. One positive message I took away from this video is that anyone can become a vegan.

  13. I first came to this video thinking it would maybe tell me what the challenge is, some guidelines, then follow a few actual people doing the challenge. But after I finished the video all I could think about was how pointless and unrealistic it was. The only thing I got from this video is how vegans think of themselves, is that after one day of it they are just so much better then everyone else in the world, and that there way is the supreme right way, and anybody who is not vegan is just a disgusting human being.

  14. i didn’t think this video portrayed a message that was intended. i assume it is pro veganism but it does so in a somewhat passive aggressive way. it assumes those who aren’t vegan sit around getting fat and lazy and drinking beer. also that when she went vegan she instantly became a attractive elegant young lady. this is of course a misleading assumption and normally doesn’t happen overnight.

  15. The video is not very pleasant. The message in the video is a dulled down version of the truth that eating meat is not good in a health lifestyle. After seeing the videos about meat and the food industry in my ISAT 160 class, I have gone vegetarian. I can say I did notice myself feeling healthier and in a better mental state than before. I might have to go all the way and try the vegan challenge instead of sticking where I am at now at vegetarian. For me the switch off meat was not very hard. All I had to do was think off the health benefits in the long run and those thoughts lead the way to vegetarianism. It has been one of the most positive things I have done and I recommend it to everyone

  16. I thought Heather’s video was funny and highlighted the importance of eating the right kind of vegan diet. Vegan does not mean healthy in the same way that organic does not mean healthy. As a satire, her video also reflected that change does not happen overnight, instead it is gradual and longterm results require commitment.

  17. I was disappointed by this video. Veganism is a lifestyle choice whether you decide to make the change to advocate the mistreatment of animals or simply for the health benefits. Though it is challenging, I do not think it should be portrayed as a challenge. I know that this video was meant to be satirical but I guess I just don’t agree with the idea of making jokes about someone who has just begun this change, nor would it motivate me to become vegan.

  18. This video turned out to be nothing like I thought it would be. I thought Heather would be challenging and educating us to eat a healthy vegan diet. I also thought, this video would give us a good perspective into what a good vegan diet is like, but I was very wrong. I thought it was kind of ironic that Heather woke up “enlightened” the next day after eating all that unhealthy food because if I eat an unhealthy meal, the next day I usually feel horrible.

  19. I think this video is poorly put together and lacks meaningful content. Hard to interpret what they are going for in this video. Disappointed.

  20. This video was funny so it kept me entertained. However, the change is very dramatic and unrealistic so is Heather trying to make fun of vegan-ism and those who think it’s the key to life? She did demonstrate that although you’re vegan, you can still eat really badly like only bagels and pretzels and beer. Therefore, being vegan isn’t enough you actually have to eat healthy and make smart diet choices.

  21. This video made me laugh, yes I agree with the first couple of commenters, that the video could be misleading, but I understand that what Heather is saying is how much one day can really make a difference. I also could say that someone who is uneducated about becoming vegan might not get astonishing outcomes, due to eating unhealthy foods that could still be considered vegan. If people would educated themselves on what true healthy vegan food is, they could get immediate results and feel better!

  22. I thought this video was funny but the point of it was sort of unclear. It seemed like it was making fun of both an animal based diet and a plant based diet. When I saw the title and description for the video I thought it was going to be a real challenge and show a change just from 24 hours of being vegan. But after thinking about the video I think its trying to say that if you go vegan you’re not going to get benefits and results over night its something that you’re going to have to commit to, to see results and changes in your life.

  23. When I chose this video to watch I was hoping that it would give me some kind of inspiration to become a vegan, since I am already a vegetarian and have been trying to start eating less dairy but struggling. However, it didn’t inspire me at all. Instead, it kind of made it seem like they were making fun of vegans/veganism and the transformations they describe when they first change their diet. It was funny, but I think I would have liked and benefited more from a more realistic video.

  24. I would have to agree with Katia and Tangerine. I do realize that the objective behind this particular video is to grasp the attention of a young, stubborn audience. However, the title and description were misleading, especially being that the website as a whole promotes education and enlightenment. Furthermore, the majority of my fellow peers are likely put off by the acting, especially if the viewer was seriously considering a vegan transition. A more effective approach would be to present the necessary information in a manner that appeals to young, inquisitive people, as is done in the cartoon-drawing videos, etc.

  25. Heather’s video, although a little dramatic, seems very true! I have heard many positive things about people who have tried and switched to a vegan diet. Many say that it is a life changing decision such as stated in this video and can turn you into a more productive you. This video shows the contrast between someone who is on a normal diet and someone who is on a vegan diet and it has forced me to look at my diet. I think that I will possibly try to be vegetarian for a week to take things slow and see where that leads me.

  26. First, I decided to watch this video because since getting to school, I have decided to transition to being vegan. So watching this video I was expecting something real, like someone’s own transition. Instead, I witnessed an unrealistic on all fronts account of what making this change is. I would hope that it would be off set by a work that actually realistically shows how becoming vegan can truly change your life.

  27. So… I’m a little confused as to what the message of this video is? Are you making fun of vegans and using satire to ridicule them for saying that being vegan for 24 hours actually can change your life? 😐
